Kevin Feige Says the MCU Will Be Much Easier to Follow After AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is heading toward its biggest turning point yet, and according to Kevin Feige, Avengers: Secret Wars won't just wrap up the Multiverse Saga. It's going to reshape the MCU into something much more accessible for fans moving forward.

Marvel Studios has taken its share of hits during the Multiverse Saga. Between the explosion of Disney+ series, interconnected storylines, and a growing number of characters, even longtime fans have admitted it has become harder to keep up. It seems Marvel knows that, and the studio is preparing to make some major changes once Secret Wars arrives.

Speaking ahead of this week's Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Feige teased what comes next for Marvel Studios, explaining that Secret Wars will serve as a fresh launch for the franchise.

“It will establish a streamlined, simplified, single universe that’s easier for audiences to follow. Some aspects will feel familiar. But many things will be entirely new.”

That statement will probably be music to the ears of fans who've felt overwhelmed by the sprawling Multiverse Saga. Rather than expecting audiences to watch every movie and every Disney+ series to understand what's happening, Marvel appears to be steering things back toward a cleaner, more focused universe.

It's kind of wild that we're already talking about what comes after Secret Wars when we've only recently gotten our first look at Avengers: Doomsday.

Then again, planning years ahead has always been part of Marvel's DNA. While the Infinity Saga wasn't perfectly mapped out from day one, the studio has consistently looked well beyond its next release, and Feige continues to make it clear that there's a long-term roadmap in place.

That roadmap reportedly stretches all the way to 2042. As intimidating as that sounds, it probably doesn't mean every single project is locked in stone.

Marvel has already shifted gears over the last couple of years by slowing its release schedule and putting more attention on quality instead of simply increasing output. Naturally, plans will continue to evolve as audience tastes change and the entertainment landscape shifts.

One of the biggest developments after Secret Wars is expected to be the beginning of the Mutant Saga. Ever since Disney acquired Fox in 2019 and Marvel regained the film rights to the X-Men and other mutant characters, fans have been waiting for the inevitable moment when mutants become a central part of the MCU.

The groundwork has already started. Ms. Marvel introduced the idea that mutants exist within the MCU, and many fans expect Secret Wars to rewrite reality in a way that makes mutants feel like they've always belonged in this universe.

There's also growing speculation that Sadie Sink will make her MCU debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While Marvel hasn't confirmed that casting, excitement continues to build, and with the X-Men movie gearing up for production, many fans are hoping San Diego Comic-Con finally delivers some official casting announcements.

Feige's latest comments also hint that Marvel's approach to television may continue evolving. The studio has already reduced the number of Disney+ shows in development, and it sounds like future projects may stand more comfortably on their own instead of requiring audiences to keep up with every piece of content across multiple platforms.

Whether that's exactly how things play out remains to be seen, but simplifying the viewing experience feels like the right move.

Despite ongoing conversations about superhero fatigue, the numbers continue telling a different story when Marvel delivers characters audiences genuinely want to see. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already proving to be a box office success, and Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be another massive event film.

If Feige follows through on his promise of a streamlined MCU while introducing the X-Men and the next generation of heroes, Secret Wars will be the reset that gives Marvel Studios exactly the fresh start it needs.
