Kevin Smith Will Give CAPTAIN MARVEL a Shout Out in JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT
As you know, Captain Marvel’s Stan Lee cameo involved a great little shout-out to Kevin Smith and his Mallrats movie. Smith had quite an emotional response to the Easter egg and now he’s going to return the favor and give Captain Marvel a shout out in his upcoming film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
Smith posted the following image on Twitter with Jason Lee holding a Captain Marvel comic and the caption reads, “Me and Mallrats got a shout-out in @captainmarvel, so me and Mallrats are shouting back in #JayAndSilentBobReboot!”

When Smith saw the shout-out to him in Captain Marvel, this was his humble response:
“Just saw @captainmarvelofficial. I am a blubbering mess. After a lifetime spent referencing the movies, the movies just referenced me! Many thanks to @marvelstudios, #ryanfleck, #annabodin, and to my friend @therealstanlee for the cinematic shout-out! But if I’m now part of the @marvel Universe, I have only one question: Did I survive The Snap?”
I know some people don’t really care for Kevin Smith, but the guy is just a big and excited fanboy like most of us. He just happens to be in a certain position in Hollywood, that not many people get a chance to have. So he has a bigger voice than most.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot the title characters reliving the plot of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back when they head to Hollywood to stop a reboot of Bluntman and Chronic.
The film stars Jason Mewes, Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Craig Robinson (The Office), Frankie Shaw (SMILF), Justin Long (Tusk), and Jordan Monsanto, who is a producer of several of Smith’s film projects, Method Man and Redman. Then there are Flash stars Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, and Carlos Valdes. Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie) and Molly Shannon (SNL) will also be appearing in the movie.
Smith previously explained:
"If you remember Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, it was a movie in which Jay and Silent Bob found out Hollywood was making a movie about them so they went cross country to Hollywood to stop that from happening. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is completely fucking different. In Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Jay and Silent Bob find out that Hollywood is making a reboot of that old movie that they had made about them, and they have to go cross the country to Hollywood to stop it all over again. it’s literally the same fucking movie all over again. It’s a movie that makes fun of sequels and remakes and reboots while being all three at the same time."
The movie is expected to be released this fall.
