Kirk and Uhura's Relationship Teased in STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS Season 2

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 is coming, and it looks like it’ll be a hell of a great ride! The first trailer that was released was really cool and it offered us an exciting tease of what’s coming.

One of the things that this next season is going to play with is the first meeting of two of Star Trek's most iconic characters… James T. Kirk and Nyota Uhura. Celia Rose Gooding takes on the role of Uhura in the series, and she recently talked about exploring her relationship with Kirk.

The trailer that was released featured Paul Wesley’s Kirk and Uhura having a drink together, and Kirk has got that huge flirtatious grin on his face. As you know, Kirk has a reputation as a lady's man. He and Uhura actually shared a kiss in an episode of the original Star Trek series, which was a big deal back in the 60s because it was interracial.

Anyway, when talking about their relationship in the upcoming season of Strange New Worlds, Gooding said:

"I can say that, without spoiling anything, I think Kirk's reputation definitely precedes him, and that where we meet Uhura, I think if she were in a less tender place of post-mourning the loss of one of her closest friends, I think that their introduction would be a bit different. But because I know where they meet and how they meet and how it comes together, I would say that there are hints to anything being possible. And yeah, Kirk's reputation definitely precedes him and Uhura is a little preoccupied with everything that has just happened to her to really hone in on what's going on with this dude right now. That's where her head's at."

It’s going to be fun to see these characters explored over the course of the next season and I really hope the creative team has some fun with it. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 will be released on Paramount+ on June 15th!
