KRAVEN THE HUNTER Will Be a Savage, Bloody, Ultra-Violent R-Rated Movie
Sony Pictures has officially announced that its upcoming Marvel movie, Kraven the Hunter, is going to be an R-rated movie. Now, this isn’t just going to be any kind of R-rated movie, this movie is going to be a savage, bloody, and ultra-violent flick! This is the first film in the Spider-Man universe that has been given the honor.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is taking on the role of Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven, who is a big-game hunter, and it looks like he is going to be freakin’ awesome in this role! He will be joined by Russell Crowe, who will play his father, Nikolai Kravinoff. Crowe previously explained that the movie is “unexpectedly dark,” and that’s an understatement!
During the Sony Pictures presentation at CinemaCon, the first footage premiered in the form of a blood-soaked trailer, and I was not expecting the crazy violence that it delivered! It was packed full of footage of Kraven just brutally killing people and ripping them apart. Hell, at one point he bites a guy’s nose off and spits it out! I think jaws are going to drop when fans see this first trailer for themselves.
While I would have thought Venom would be the character to get an R-rated movie, I’m happy to see that Kraven the Hunter is going all out and not holding back! The character certainly deserves it and from what I saw, this movie looks so much better than I was expecting. Now, I just hope that the creative team does a great job telling this story.
In Kraven the Hunter, Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff is on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world. Taylor-Johnson called the J.C. Chandor-directed project “a Marvel movie grounded heavily in the real world. We know he is a fierce hunter, a highly trained killer.” He then answered “the internet’s biggest question” by saying… “F**k yeah, it will be rated R!”
J.C. Chandor is directing the movie from a script by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), and it also stars Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Russell Crowe as Nikolai Kravinoff, Fred Hechinger as Chameleon, Alessandro Nivola as an unknown villain, Levi Miller, and Catch-22 star Christopher Abbott as the main villain, The Foreigner.
Kraven the Hunter arrives in theaters on October 6, 2023.
