Kyle Chandler In Talks To Star In DC Studios' LANTERNS
Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline) is in talks to star in DC Studios’ upcoming HBO series Lanterns, which will be based on the Green Lantern DC comic.
Chandler is looking to take on the role of Hal Jordan, a role previously offered to Josh Brolin, who ended up passing on the opportunity.
While I like Brolin, I think that Chandler is a great choice for Hal Jordan! I actually love that casting. It was previously teased in reports that the Lanterns version of Hal Jordan will be a grizzled, veteran Green Lantern in the series, which is said to be taking its cues from the likes of HBO's True Detective.
The series will focus on new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
The project is being developed by Ozark’s Chris Mundy, Watchmen‘s Damon Lindelof, and comic book writer Tom King.
When talking about the eight-episode series DC Studios co-Chairmen and co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, said: “John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we’re launching next summer with Superman.”
What do you think about Kyle Chandler taking on the role role of Hal Jordan in Lanterns?
