Laurie Strode's Granddaughter Has Been Cast in The New HALLOWEEN Sequel
As the development of Danny McBride and David Gordon Green's Halloween sequel moves forward, we have a new casting announcement that reveals a new detail about the story.
Andi Matichak has been cast in the role of Allyson, who will take on the role of the granddaughter of Laurie Strode, who will be once again played by Jamie Lee Curtis. Judy Greer is playing the daughter of Stoude and the mother of Allyson.
I like that this new Halloween film is going to involve three generations of the Strode family. It will certainly add an interesting dynamic when brother, uncle, and granduncle Michael Myers shows up at the door.
The upcoming Halloween film takes place years after the original movie; It will pretend as though none of the other sequels have happened, and Michael Meyers will not be portrayed as a supernatural being. One thing that Mcbride and Green are looking to bring back to the franchise is the creepiness and dread of the original film. McBride previous said:
"The original is all about tension. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) doesn't even know that Michael Myers exists until the last minutes of the movie. So much of it you're in anticipation of what's going to happen and the dread that [director John] Carpenter spins so effortlessly in that film, I think we were really trying to get it back to that. We're trying to mine that dread. Mine that tension and not just go for gore and ultra-violence that you see some horror movies lean on. To us, it was all about bringing back the creep factor and trying to find the horror in your own backyard, in our own homes."
The Halloween sequel will be released in theaters on October 19, 2018.
