Lea Thompson Talks About Her "Really Great" HOWARD THE DUCK Movie Pitch To Marvel

A few years ago we learned that Lea Thompson pitched a new Howard The Duck movie to Marvel Studios. At the time she said that they loved it! She worked on developing the pitch with Howard the Duck comic book creative team Chip Zdarsky and Joe Quinones and she pitched herself as the director of the project.

In a recent interview with THR, Thompson once again talked about her film pitch, saying:

“Joe Quinones did some of the art for the pitch because he and Chip Zdarsky did the last run of Howard the Duck comic books. Chip and I worked together and came up with a really great pitch. Marvel liked the pitch, but they have different plans for the different characters. I still think I could do a really good job because I feel like I am the one who really understands the fans, both of the movie and the cartoon.”

I would actually love to see Thompson get to make a new Howard The Duck film for Marvel! I have no idea if the studio has any live-action plans for the character, but Howard is set to appear in Marvel’s upcoming What If…? animated series. As far as I know, that might be the only plan that Marvel currently has with the character. But, I hope they do end up playing with him more! He’s such a fun character. As for Marvel’s response to the Pitch, she previously shared:

“They loved it, actually. But they were like, ‘We have no plans for these things, and we’re doing the streaming thing, and we’ll call you back.’”

So maybe one day they’ll call her back? Personally, I’d like to see a Howard The Duck and Hell Cow team-up project. That would be a ton of weird fun!

Would you like to see Lea Thompson get to make her Howard the Duck movie?
