Lex Luthor’s MAN OF TOMORROW Warsuit Was a Dream Come True for Nicholas Hoult

We already got out first official look at Lex Luthor’s iconic warsuit in Man of Tomorrow, and it turns out Nicholas Hoult was just as excited to see it happen as DC fans were.

When James Gunn unveiled the first intial promotional artwork for Man of Tomorrow, one of the biggest talking points was Lex standing in his classic green-and-purple armored battlesuit.

The image marked the first time the legendary piece of DC Comics tech has appeared in live-action, and according to Hoult, getting to wear it was high on his wish list from the very beginning.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the actor revealed that the warsuit came up almost immediately during his early conversations with Gunn about playing Superman’s greatest enemy.

“I want the war-suit,” Hoult recalled telling Gunn, adding that he wanted to be involved in “some of the action as well.”

It’s easy to understand why. For decades, Lex’s warsuit has been one of the most recognizable elements of the character. Whether in animation, video games, or comic book storylines, the armor has allowed the genius billionaire to go toe-to-toe with Superman.

Now, Man of Tomorrow is finally bringing that piece of DC history to the big screen. Hoult also had plenty of praise for the artists and designers who brought the suit to life.

Rather than relying entirely on visual effects, the production used a practical version of the armor built by the acclaimed team at Legacy Effects. “The Legacy Effects team are brilliant,” Hoult said.

For the actor, stepping into the completed suit was one of the highlights of the experience. He added that the practical suit was “a dream come true” for him to wear on set.

Audiences last saw the villain taken into custody at the end of Superman, leaving plenty of room for him to return with new plans, new resources, and apparently a very powerful suit of armor.

Man of Tomorrow will arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027, and the story will continue storylines involving characters introduced in Superman while expanding the larger DC Universe.
