Liam Hemsworth Offered Lead Role in INDEPENDENCE DAY 2
Director Roland Emmerich is prepping to shoot Independence Day 2, and casting is underway. According to TheWrap. Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games, The Expendables 2) has been offered a leading role in the sequel. There's no word on if he has accepted, but he would be stupid not to. He should feel lucky that he was even offered the role. The guy's not a very good actor.
The movie is said to take place 20 years after the events of the first film, and Will Smith will not return to reprise his role. Both Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are expected to return, though, so that's a plus! Michael B. Jordan has also been rumored to be up for a part in the movie.
Production for the film will start in May, and the most recent draft of the script comes from Carter Blanchard. Before he came along, Emmerich and Dean Devlin wrote several drafts of the script along with James Vanderbilt. I may not be a fan of Hemsworth, but I don't think his inclusion in the movie will hurt it. After all, it's Independence Day. Audiences will be happy as long as there's a big battle with an advanced alien race.
The movie is set to hit theaters June 24th, 2016.
