Liev Schreiber's Sabertooth was Originally Supposed To Be In LOGAN
Early on in the development process of Logan, it looks like there was a place for Liev Schreiber's Sabertooth in the story that director James Mangold and Hugh Jackman were developing. Last year, Schreiber said that he talked to Jackman about it saying:
"We’ve talked about it. I don’t know. I mean, he’s mentioned it to me. Old Man Logan story, that’s appealing. That’s something I can do. 'Old' being the operative word. Old Man Sabertooth."
The actor has now confirmed that there was indeed a role for him in the story. Unfortunately, it didn't work out due to scheduling. While talking to Variety, he said:
"There was an invitation early on from Hugh [Jackman] and [director James Mangold] and I would have loved to work on it. It was very difficult given Ray Donovan's schedule, and I think they went a different direction as well with story. I think it's a terrific movie. I'm just very proud of Hugh and the way that he handled himself with that franchise and that character. It was a great experience to be involved with one of them and to get to work with them. I had mixed emotions when I heard that he was going to retire."
I think it would have been cool to see Old Man Sabertooth in the movie. I wonder what kind of role he would have played in the story. Would he have accompanied Logan on his final adventure? Regardless, the movie turned out amazing! Maybe one day we'll find out what his place in the story would've been. In the mean time, what would you like to have seen from Sabertooth in the movie?
