Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried Talk About Whether a MEAN GIRLS 2 Could Really Happen
For years now fans have talked about whether or not we will ever see a Mean Girls 2. The stars of the first film have all branched out to varying degrees of success, and are all still in the public eye, so now that Lindsay Lohan is back in movies and is even in talks to reboot another of her classic films, Freaky Friday, it feels like a good time to discuss a reunion of the Mean Girls.
In a recent sit down for Interview Magazine, Lohan and her Mean Girls co-star Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, The Dropout) chatted about reuniting and what fun it would be to get the whole cast together, with Seyfried saying:
"I would kill just to do one week, all of us playing our own roles on Mean Girls on Broadway." At this, Lohan agreed "that would be really fun." Then Seyfried asked, “Because a Mean Girls 2 is never going to happen, is it?"
Lohan is on board for a sequel, but wouldn’t settle for the wrong script. Lohan explained:
"I don't know. I heard something about it being a movie musical and I was like, 'Oh no.' We can't do that. It has to be the same tone."
Seyfried agrees that wouldn’t be the same dynamic. "Yeah. It would just be completely different," Seyfried admitted. "Anyway, Tina [Fey] is busy. She'll get around to it. Listen, we're all part of each other's worlds whether we like it or not, and it is really nice to be in contact as adults."
Lohan has previously stated that she has made it clear to the film’s producer Lorne Michaels that she would be interested in coming back to make another movie. I know that I, and plenty of other fans, would happily show up to watch it too. Maybe if Freaky Friday2 gets off the ground, the studios will see the value in a film that has so many fans ready for another hit of nostalgia.
