LIONESS Season 3 Trailer Promises an All-Out War as Zoe Saldaña Faces a Deadly New Threat

The wait for the next chapter of Lioness is almost over, and if the newly released Season 3 trailer is any indication, Joe is about to face the toughest mission of her career.

The espionage thriller created by Taylor Sheridan looks like it's raising the stakes once again, throwing its characters into a dangerous web of hidden enemies, betrayals, and high-risk operations where nobody can be trusted.

The trailer opens with Zoe Saldaña’s Joe preparing to leave her family behind as she heads back into the fight. Before she walks away, she tells her children:

“I’m a soldier. And a soldier’s job is to fight.” That perfectly captures who Joe is and the impossible balance she's been trying to maintain between protecting her country and protecting the people she loves.

From there, the footage explodes into scenes of military conflict and political tension as U.S. Secretary of State Edwin Mullins, played by Morgan Freeman, and CIA Deputy Director of Operations Byron Westfield, played by Michael Kelly, reveal that America's national security has been compromised.

Joe's longtime ally Kaitlyn, played by Nicole Kidman, delivers an ominous warning that suggests the mission has already been compromised: “You must asume they have your phone, assume they have everything. You better get ready.”

The trailer closes with Edwin offering one final statement that makes it clear just how serious the situation has become: “We’ll let the chips fall where they may. May God have mercy on us.”

Season 3 promises to push Joe further than ever before. According to the official synopsis, hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals begin colliding as Joe finds herself caught between her responsibilities at work and the life she's trying to hold together at home.

As strange patterns emerge, people disappear, and carefully laid plans begin shifting, Joe is forced to confront enemies operating from the shadows. With guidance from Kaitlyn and Westfield, the conflict becomes deeply personal as the war reaches into every corner of her life.

Season 2 left Joe carrying the weight of impossible decisions after the CIA's fight against terrorism moved much closer to home.

Alongside Kaitlyn and Byron, she recruited a new Lioness operative to infiltrate an emerging threat, all while wrestling with the personal sacrifices demanded by her role as leader of the Lioness program. It looks like those sacrifices are about to become even greater.

Along with Zoe Saldaña, Kidman, Freeman, and Kelly, Lioness features Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Genesis Rodriguez, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, Hannah Love Lanier, and Ian Bohen.

Lioness isn't pulling any punches this season. The action looks bigger, the threats feel more dangerous, and Joe's next assignment may be the one that changes everything.

Lioness Season 3 premieres Sunday, August 2, on Paramount+.
