LOGAN's Dafne Keen will Star in Director Tom Hooper's Adaptation of HIS DARK MATERIALS
To say that I’m excited for BBC’s His Dark Materials series is a bit of an understatement. The books were fantastic, and I’m becoming more and more converted to the idea of books being turned into series instead of movies every day. That’s why I was excited to hear news about it a couple weeks ago when they announced that they were going to work on the series. Now we have a director and a star!
Tom Hooper of The King’s Speech fame will be directing the series. Meanwhile, Dafne Keen will be in front of the camera playing the lead role of Lyra. Many will know Keen as X-23 from Logan.
My excitement just shot through the roof, guys. The series will have eight episodes to cover all three books in the series: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. The story follows the coming of age of two children, Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry, as they wander through a series of parallel universes.
They should’ve done nine episodes so they could have three per book, but that’s just my opinion. Depending on the length of each episode, I think these have real potential.
Jack Thorne has scripted the series for BBC and Netflix and Apple are both vying for the US and global rights of the program.
