LOKI Almost Featured Several Other Timelines in MCU History and There's Concept Art!
This first season of Loki did some wild and crazy things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and opened the door to the concept of alternate universes and timelines. There’s so much play with in the MCU because of this, and Marvel hasn’t even scratched the surface of the kinds of stories that could be told.
The first season focused on Loki and his time working with the Time Variance Authority, aka TVA. On his journey, he found himself in some insane and cool new realities and places in the MCU timeline. Some of the things we saw included historical events like the destruction of Pompeii in 79 AD, dystopian futures like 2050 Alabama, alien worlds with Lamentis-1, and even a realm between realities that was used by the TVA as a temporal dumping ground called The Void.
A new book titled Marvel Studios’ Loki: The Art of the Series reveals some cool concept art that was created for the series which shows us some of the other timelines in MCU’s history that Loki could have gone! These are places that were considered but, obviously, not used.
The concept art which you can see below features an Old West location, which was set during the Industrial Revolution; a 1970s city set piece; a New Asgard setting; Loki as a part of the Ancient Roman Senate; the pyramids and pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, and a Loki wielding a Samurai sword in ancient feudal Japan.
Some of these would have been pretty awesome to see! Check out the art below and tell us what you think! Marvel is currently developing Season 2 of the Disney+ series, which fans are extremely excited about!
