LOKI Director Teases Kang's Future in the MCU Saying We Haven't Seen "The Definitive Kang Yet"
The next two phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are setting up the big bad villain of Kang the Conqueror, and it’s leading to the epic event movie Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The studio has a lot invested in this villainous character and according to Loki director Dan DeLeeuw, we haven’t seen what he considers to be the "definitive" version of Kang yet. During an interview with ScreenRant, he said:
"I love all the Kangs, I think Kang's a great character. I don't know that we've seen the definitive Kang yet, in terms of what I would envision the definitive Kang [to be]. I think there's still someone yet to come out of the shadows.”
Yeah, I think that’s obvious. Marvel isn’t going to show the definitive Kang yet, they are going to save that for a special occasion in the MCU. This is the version of Kang that will set Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in motion. The big question is… who will be playing the character in the future!?
Jonathan Majors has played the character up until this point, and he appeared in Loki Season 2 as Victor Timely, who is the traveling showman variant of Kang. But, with Majors currently in hot water over abuse allegations and a trial looming, it’s hard to believe that Marvel and Disney are going to keep him on board. I mean, Disney has ditched some other talent over far less.
Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to address the situation, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Majors is a great actor and his version of Kang was Marvel's highest-rated villain with test audiences. Marvel is definitely in a sticky situation and fans are waiting to see how they handle it.
