Looks Like We'll Be Getting Some EARTHSEA Movies

Fantasy author Ursula K. Le Guin sadly passed away earlier this year. However, before her passing, it looks like she worked out some deals to have some of her works turned into films. We already knew that The Telling was being adapted, but according to Deadline, so is Earthsea.

Producer Jennifer Fox was given the film rights to the series before Le Guin’s passing. Also, Le Guin’s son, Theo Downes-Le Guin will serve as executive producer. I’ve only read the first book, but it was freaking amazing. I am incredibly excited and this gives me the much-needed push to go back and read all 5 books and 8 short stories.

Here’s a brief synopsis of the series:

The series, which was first introduced in the 1960s, is comprised of five novels and eight short stories set in a fantasy archipelago of hundreds of islands, imperiled by those who use magic to gain power and upset its delicate balance. Most of its characters are people of color and the emphasis is on understanding nature and human nature, not possessing power over them.

What do you all think about Earthsea being adapted into a feature film?
