Lucasfilm is Still Planning Live-Action STAR WARS Projects For Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra

For the past few months, there have been rumors about Lucasfilm developing a new live-action Star Wars series that will revolve around the fan-favorite villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Well, we have another update from Kessel Run Transmissions' Noah Outlaw, who is saying that the project is still happening and that Star Wars: Rebels character Ezra Bridger will also be making his live-action debut.

The source reporting the news is the same source that broke the news of the upcoming animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars spinoff series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, so we know the track record is solid.

Grand Admiral Thrawn was created by Star Wars author Timothy Zahn, and he made his debut in the novel Heir to the Empire. He’s a member of the Chiss race, and is an Imperial military commander who took control of the Galactic Empire five years after the events of Return of the Jedi.

The character was pulled out of the extended universe and explored further in Star Wars Rebels when he made his debut in Season 3 and was wonderfully voiced by Lars Mikkelsen. The character has yet to make his live-action debut, but it looks like that’s going to change. Not long ago, there was a report that Lucasfilm was even in the process of casting the character.

With The Clone Wars and Rebels characters such as Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan, and Captain Re making their live-action debuts in The Mandalorian, it makes sense for Thrawn and Ezra to show up at some point.

At the end of Rebels, Ezra and Thrawn were teleported to an unknown part of the Galaxy, and Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren were later shown setting off to find them. I imagine when we see Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren in The Mandalorian, they will be in the middle of their journey.

There’s no word on where exactly Thrawn and Ezra will make their big debut, but fans are speculating that it could happen in The Mandalorian Season 3. From there, things could spinoff into the standalone series. It’ll be cool to see how the characters end up being utilized and to see what kind of story arc that is being planned for them. I’m excited to find out!

How do you think things will play out for these characters?
