Lucasfilm Reportedly Developing a KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC Era STAR WARS Series
Rumor has it that Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars series set in the iconic Knights of the Old Republic era.
For years, fans have been wanting to see a project produced that’s related to KOTOR, the awesome 2003 LucasArts game that dives deep into the Star Wars universe's ancient past.
Hints of an adaptation have floated around since before The Force Awakens, and In 2019, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy teased fans by mentioning they had "something to look at" concerning KOTOR.
Now, insider Daniel Richtman reports: "Lucasfilm is developing a show set during the Knights of the Old Republic era."
While it's uncertain if this series will directly adapt the game's narrative, there's optimism that some fan favorite characters might appear. Even though KOTOR and the Expanded Universe aren't officially part of current canon, Lucasfilm has previously reintroduced popular elements from the Legends continuity.
It was previously rumored that the project would tell other stories outside of the game narrative, before the rule of two and at a time where Revan and Malek were in their prime.
Set nearly 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, KOTOR explores a time when Jedi and Sith forces clashed in epic battles across the galaxy. The game's captivating synopsis sets the stage:
"It is four thousand years before the Galactic Empire and hundreds of Jedi Knights have fallen in battle against the ruthless Sith. You are the last hope of the Jedi Order.
“Can you master the awesome power of the Force on your quest to save the Republic? Or will you fall to the lure of the dark side? Hero or villain, savior or conqueror... you alone will determine the destiny of the entire galaxy!"
It would be really cool and interesting to see this era of Star Wars explored, and if it’s something Lucasfilm is actually doing, I hope that they bring on the right creative to develop it.
