LUCIFER Season 6 in Jeopardy Over Contract Dispute with Star Tom Ellis
Well, this is interesting. A month ago it was reported that Lucifer star Tom Ellis closed a deal with Warner Bros. and Netflix to reprise his role in a potential sixth season of the series. TV Line now has an update on the story saying that “all hell is threatening to break loose behind the scenes at Lucifer as a result of a brewing contract dispute involving the series’ titular star.”
According to the report, Tom Eliis and Warner Bros. Television started renegotiating their contract, and that’s obviously not going very well. Those talks have come to a standstill with “the actor allegedly rejecting the studio’s latest offer.” They go on to say that “his failure to honor the existing deal would put him in breach of contract.”
An inside source is saying that Warner Bros. TV has gone back and “sweetened the pot” multiple times for Ellis. They say, “Everyone wants Tom to be happy, but there’s a limit, and it’s been reached.”
Well, if WB is trying to make things work and Ellis keeps denying them, it seems to me like he’s just trying to get out of his current contract so that he doesn’t have to make Lucifer Season 6.
I don’t know, this whole thing is kinda weird. The fans of Lucifer campaigned for the series to be saved after Fox canceled it, Netflix came to the rescue, and now Ellis won’t do it because he’s looking for compensation that’s beyond what WB is willing to pay him? The guy should be thankful that the show got picked up again after being canceled and be happy that he’s got a great acting gig! Maybe playing the devil is rubbing off on him.
