M. Night Shyamalan's TALES FROM THE CRYPT Series Reboot Has Been Killed

If you were looking forward to M. Night Shyamalan's Tales From The Crypt series reboot, I've got some bad news for you. The series is no longer happening. The news was confirmed by TNT and TBS president Kevin Reilly in an interview with Deadline. It's explained that the whole thing was tied up with legal issues regarding the rights, and that's what shut it down. Reilly explains:

“That one got really caught up in a complete legal mess unfortunately with a very complicated underlying rights structure. We lost so much time, so I said, ‘Look, I’m not waiting around four years for this thing’. Maybe that will come back around..."

Instead, they are putting their focus on that sci-fi block of programming being developed by Ridley Scott. That is being planned for a 2018 launch.

Personally, I was actually looking forward to seeing Shyamalan's take on Tales From The Crypt. He's been on a roll with making great movies again with films such as The Visit and Split. Tales From The Crypt was also one of my favorite shows to watch when it was on the air and it would have been great to see the return of the Crypt Keeper.

It's a shame that the series production was shut down. Who knows, though. Maybe one day it will actually happen when the legal mess is over with.
