MADAME WEB Star Isabela Merced Hilariously Defends Lack of Superhero Costume Screen Time
I don’t know if you’ve seen Madame Web, yet but it is easily one of the worst superhero movies ever made. It is so bad and it’s shocking that Sony Pictures let this thing get made. Out of all the movies being shelved these days for tax right-offs, Madame Web should have been the one.
This makes the film’s star, Isabela Merced, comments on the lack of time superhero costume screen time all the more funny. We recently reported that these costumes are only seen in the film for a couple of minutes, and when defending that decision in a recent interview with The Wrap, Merced said:
"When you’re invested enough in the story, it’s like those things don’t really matter. You’re just kind of like, what’s best for the story? And I think they did it for a reason, you know?"
"This is supposed to be an origin story. It wouldn’t be an origin story if we saw us in like, half the movie with our suits on. I like that it’s a little tease, and I like that it leaves people wanting more."
She says that as if the story was actually good, which is hilarious to me. It makes me wonder if she was aware of the film she was making while she was making it. I mean, to be fair, the story was so bad that the costumes getting more screen time wouldn’t have helped. The only thing that would have helped this movie was a whole new creative team that knew how to tell a proper story.
