MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE'S STILL UNFAIR Pulls Malcolm Back Into The Family Madness

Hulu has released the first trailer for Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, along with confirmation that the four-part revival event premieres April 10.

The footage shown reminds fans why this family remains one of TV’s most entertaining disasters, while setting up a new chapter that pulls an older, supposedly wiser Malcolm back into the madness he tried to leave behind.

Set years after the original series ended, the revival catches up with Malcolm, once again played by Frankie Muniz, who has spent over a decade intentionally keeping his distance from his family. That plan doesn’t survive long.

The official logline reads: “After shielding himself from his family for over a decade, Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) is dragged back into their orbit when Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party.”

Malcolm insists he’s thriving away from his family, saying, “My life is fantastic now. All I had to do was stay away from my family!” Of course, that peace evaporates the moment Hal and Lois decide he has no choice but to come home.

Malcolm also isn’t arriving alone this time. He brings his daughter, played by Keeley Karsten, who gets a front-row seat to the family’s familiar brand of dysfunction. From there, everything spirals exactly how fans would hope.

The revival marks a major reunion for the original cast. The revival also stars Chris Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Emy Coligado are also reprising their roles. Dewey has been recast, with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark stepping into the role.

New faces joining the event include Vaughan Murrae and Kiana Madeira, expanding the family circle and introducing fresh dynamics without losing the show’s core identity.

Linwood Boomer, who created Malcolm in the Middle, returns as writer and executive producer. Cranston also serves as an executive producer alongside Tracy Katsky, Gail Berman, and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan.

Ken Kwapis directed all four episodes and executive produced, with Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye on board as co-executive producers. The revival comes from Disney Branded Television and is produced by 20th Television.

The original Malcolm in the Middle ran on Fox from 2000 to 2006 and became one of the defining sitcoms of its era, blending absurd comedy with surprisingly sharp family storytelling. I loved this show, and I’m excited for this revival! It looks great! It looks like it hasn’t lost its edge. Malcolm may be older, but the family chaos he tried so hard to escape is still very much alive.
