Margot Robbie Reportedly Joins Sydney Sweeney in the Race to Play Emma Frost in Marvel's X-MEN
Marvel Studios' long-awaited X-Men reboot continues to fuel casting speculation, and one of the latest rumors has fans debating who should step into the role of one of the franchise's most iconic mutants.
While Sydney Sweeney has been at the center of recent reports, a new name has now entered the conversation, and it's a major one.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Margot Robbie is also being considered to play Emma Frost in Marvel's upcoming X-Men reboot. The scooper claims, "Margot Robbie is also being eyed for the role of Emma Frost in the X-Men reboot."
As always with these kinds of reports, nothing has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, so it's best to treat this as a rumor until the studio officially announces its cast.
Before Robbie's name surfaced, Sweeney was reportedly being looked at for the part, and the reaction online was mixed. While plenty of fans liked the idea, others weren't sold on the casting choice.
Emma Frost has been one of Marvel Comics' most compelling X-Men characters since making her debut in The Uncanny X-Men #129 back in 1980. Originally introduced as an antagonist, she eventually evolved into one of the X-Men's most important allies.
Along with her incredibly powerful telepathic abilities, she's also famous for transforming her body into an indestructible diamond form.
The character has appeared on the big screen before, most memorably in X-Men: First Class, where January Jones played the White Queen.
If Robbie does end up landing the role, it would mark another major comic book franchise for the Oscar-nominated actress. She's already made her mark in DC as Harley Quinn and joining the MCU would put her among the growing list of actors who have crossed over between DC and Marvel.
For now, though, Marvel is keeping its plans for the X-Men reboot under lock and key, leaving fans to speculate about who will eventually assemble the next generation of mutants.
In the meantime, Marvel Studios has plenty on its slate. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to swing into theaters on July 31, followed later this year by Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18.
Whether Marvel ultimately goes with Sydney Sweeney, Margot Robbie, or someone completely unexpected, Emma Frost is one of those characters that fans will be watching very closely.
