Mark-Paul Gosselaar Officially Coming Back for SAVED BY THE BELL Reboot, and Mario Lopez Shares a Set Video
We reported last week that the upcoming Saved By the Bell reboot at the streaming service Peacock had cast its lead with young actress Josie Totah, and the series would also be welcoming back original cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley. We also provided the synopsis for the series. Check it out below:
When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state – including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.
Totah will play the role of Lexi, who is described as a beautiful, sharp-tongued cheerleader and the most popular girl at Bayside High, who is both admired and feared by her fellow students.
At the time, we hadn’t gotten confirmation, but the synopsis sure did make it sound like we would see Mark-Paul Gosselaar back as Zack, unless they just had him as an off-screen character. But today we are happy to announce that Zack is officially back! This is so cool, and it will make the series that much more fun to watch. I hope they surprise fans and get as many of the original cast to at least pop in as they can.
We also have a fun video that Lopez posted to his Instagram that shows him and Berkley back at The Max, hanging out, shooting a promo for the series. They compare their visit to a “time machine”, as it looks just the same as the hangout from the original series, complete with the actor Ed Alonzo in the background, back as Max, complete with the Max t-shirt and crazy hairdo we all remember.
Check out the video below, and let me know if you’re as excited as I am to watch the new Saved By the Bell!
