Mark Ruffalo Breaks Silence on Hulk’s Possible Return in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY

Marvel fans have been buzzing about whether Mark Ruffalo will suit up again as The Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the actor has finally addressed the rumors.

Ruffalo first stepped into Bruce Banner’s shoes in The Avengers, taking over the role from Ed Norton, who starred in The Incredible Hulk. Since then, Ruffalo has been at the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Despite playing the character for over a decade, a true solo Hulk film has never materialized, which is why fans are so intrigued by the possibility of his return in the upcoming Spider-Man adventure.

While promoting his new HBO series Task, Ruffalo was asked about joining the wall-crawler on the big screen. He told ET Online:

"I don't know, I’m still waiting to hear. I haven't read a script yet."

Not exactly a denial, and certainly in line with Marvel’s usual secrecy. When pressed about what it would mean for him to play The Hulk again alongside Spider-Man, Ruffalo added:

"Well, if it does happen, it would be [Laughs] incredible. I grew up with this, and it's changed my life in the best ways."

The actor went on to describe why stepping back into the MCU is always exciting for him:

"Each time, it's a new director, a new world, and it's so exciting. There's nothing else like it. A TV show doesn't change its world from one director to the next, and that's what is exciting."

There are rumors about how Hulk might fit into Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The prevailing theory is that Banner will appear as a professor at Empire State University, possibly guiding Peter Parker during his college years. Other reports suggest that circumstances could drive Hulk back into his more savage form, setting up a dramatic clash of personalities.

Whether Ruffalo’s Hulk shows up in Spidey’s next chapter or not, his MCU future remains a big question mark. As of now, he isn’t confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, which makes fans wonder just how the Multiverse Saga will reshape his story.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see what Marvel and Sony officially reveal. One thing is certain, though, if Ruffalo does team up with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, it’ll be a huge moment for both characters.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
