Marvel Fans Think They Spotted a Spider-Man Easter Egg in The AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY X-Men Teaser
Marvel fans have gone full detective mode again, this time dissecting a blink-and-you-miss-it moment from the latest teaser for Avengers: Doomsday.
The new footage leans heavily into the X-Men side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while the big character reveals are getting plenty of attention, it’s a strange background detail that’s stealing the spotlight online.
Marvel Studios dropped the third teaser for the film, and it’s clearly designed to signal that the X-Men are about to play a major role in the film. The footage features the return of James Marsden as Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, alongside Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto.
Marsden last appeared as the character in a brief cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past, so seeing him suited up again got longtime fans fired up.
But the this conversation starter isn’t about any of these characters. It’s a quick shot inside the X-Mansion. In the background, a shape visible through a window has fans convinced Marvel might be sneaking in a Spider-Man reference.
Screenshots of the moment have spread fast across X, with viewers arguing over whether the image looks suspiciously like Spider-Man’s mask.
One user asked, “Is it just me or is that a Spider-Man face in the X-Mansion window in #AvengersDoomsday teaser?” Another chimed in, “Did anyone else spot the Spider-Man easter egg on the X-mansion window? #AvengersDoomsday.”
A third fan wrote, “Spider-Man on the window pane?? I guess that’s the only way he’ll appear in #AvengersDoomsday.” Another added, “That reverse X really looks like a Spider-Man mask in #AvengersDoomsday trailer.”
As fun as the theory is, the more grounded explanation is that fans are simply looking at the X-Men logo from an unusual angle. When viewed from behind, the reversed symbol can easily trick the eye, especially when people are already on high alert for Easter eggs.
At the moment, Marvel Studios hasn’t commented on the theory, and there’s no official word confirming any involvement from Spider-Man. But, rumor has it Tobey Magurire’s Spider-Man will show up.
Still, the fact that a single background detail can spark this much discussion says a lot about how closely fans are watching Avengers: Doomsday. Whether it’s a clever tease or just a case of overanalyzing, Marvel clearly knows how to keep audiences talking.
