Marvel Has Ideas For DAREDEVIL Season 4 and Beyond

I’ve been seeing some early reaction for Daredevil Season 3 and a lot of people are saying that it’s the best season yet! That’s exciting to hear and it sounds like Marvel and Netflix are planning to take the series even further. During a recent interview with EW, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said that they have ideas for Seasons 4, 5, and 6. Seeing as Daredevil has been around since 1964 and there are hundreds of different stories to tell, I’d hope they would have ideas to keep the series going for a little longer! He explained:

“We find the best showrunners that we can, whether it’s Steve Lightfoot on Punisher or Erik on Daredevil, and we work together with them to craft the best story that we can… Does Marvel have an idea as to what Daredevil 4, 5, or 6 could be? Sure. But ultimately those things will be shifted and talked about by the two other important parties that are involved: the network — Netflix — and our showrunner. So we take it on a season-by-season basis, with a general idea as to where we want to be for all of our characters.”

So, in the end, the fate of all these Marvel shows and how long the will continue all depends on Netflix. In the meantime, I’ll just sit back and enjoy the Marvel series that they end up giving us. When asked what shows he would like to continue long term if he had a blank check to work with he explained:

“There are certainly great things that we could do with the characters that we have, and anywhere you go, people ask us about Daughters of the Dragon. I think that’s as much a compliment to those original characters as it is to Jessica [Henwick] and Simone [Missick]’s portrayals, so that’s a regular thought.

To speculate out past that [in a way] that may reveal a few things that are coming, whenever we introduce a new character, whether it’s Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk or Alice Eve as Typhoid Mary, we always wonder, as it is in the comics, “Is this a character that could sustain their own story?” But right now we do have five series, and that’s an enormous responsibility, to continue to tell great stories with Matt and Jessica and Luke and Danny and Frank.”

So the focus is going to be on the original five for the foreseeable future. Daredevil is my favorite of the show and I can’t wait to see where Season 3 takes him. It’s already a bleak series, but it looks like Season 3 is going to be the darkest yet as he’s ready to embrace his darkness within him and go full on devil.

It’ll be interesting to see how this next story plays out and what future story it sets it up for.
