Marvel Reportedly Developing a SCARLET WITCH Movie; Updates on DOCTOR STRANGE 3, VISON QUEST, WICCAN, and More
After the events of Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, a lot of fans weren’t really sure if we would ever see Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch again. Then, during an interview a few months ago, Olsen said that she was ready to move on from the character, saying, “There’s no longevity in one character.”
It seemed like she was ready and willing to say goodbye. Well, according to Hollywood scooper Daniel Richtman, who’s been on a roll lately, it looks like Marvel is developing a Scarlet Witch movie, and WandaVision and Agatha All Along producer and writer, Jac Schaeffer, is going to write and direct it. That seems to make perfect sense.
In related news, it’s been reported that Doctor Strange 3 is in active development with Sam Raimi eyed to direct. Raimi is also up for directing Marvel’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
It’s also said that the Marvel projects Wonder Man and Vision Quest are likely to be standalone limited series, and Wiccan is also still in development and is said to be a likely lead-in to the Scarlet Witch movie.
Elizabeth Olsen recently talked about playing the character, saying: "Specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want...it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance."
She added: "I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character."
However, the actress also talked about what she’d like to see in Scarlet Witch's future saying that she hopes for redemption. She said: “We can do anything with her now! I feel like we've done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there's a lot more humor to be had with her. She's often the emotion of a story, and I'm curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.”
If Marvel does actually end up making a Scarlet Witch movie, what kind of story would you like to see it tell?
