Marvel Studios Scrambles to Remove AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Trailer Leak as Major Reveal Spreads Online
Marvel Studios is in full damage-control mode after what looks like the Avengers: Doomsday trailer leaked online, and while the studio is scrubbing it wherever it pops up, the biggest spoiler has already escaped containment.
The cinema-only teaser reportedly surfaced on social media on December 15, spreading fast despite its rough, clearly recorded-from-a-theater quality. The footage immediately caught attention because it appears to bring back one of the MCU’s most emotionally closed chapters.
In the leaked trailer, Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, is shown returning to his home following the final moments of Avengers: Endgame, the scene that left him dancing with Peggy Carter in the past. Once inside, Steve is seen holding his child. The teaser then cuts to a black screen with text that reads: “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
That reveal is doing most of the heavy lifting when it comes to fan reaction, especially since Evans has publicly pushed back on reports of his MCU return. Earlier this year, the actor shut those rumors down in a past interview, saying, “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years – ever since Endgame. I've just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no – happily retired!”
So is the footage real? There’s still no official confirmation, and yes, this is the era of AI-generated chaos. But the situation got a lot more interesting once Marvel began issuing DMCA takedowns across multiple platforms.
The leaks reportedly appeared in several different languages, and Marvel’s aggressive response has only intensified speculation. Studios don’t usually rush to wipe fake trailers this hard, and fans have definitely noticed.
For those hoping to see the footage legitimately, reports suggest that Avengers: Doomsday trailers will play exclusively in theaters ahead of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. There’s also reports that Marvel has multiple teasers planned, possibly four different versions rolling out over the next month, each spotlighting a different character.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. The film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and a casting reveal earlier this year confirmed appearances from characters tied to the X-Men, Thunderbolts, and the Fantastic Four.
Marvel may be trying to erase the trailer from the internet, but once a spoiler like this gets loose, there’s no putting that reveal back in the box.
