Marvel's AGATHA ALL ALONG Described as "Really Scary" and "Dangerous"
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' Head of Marvel Streaming, Television and Animation, recently appeared on The Official Marvel Podcast to talk about all kinds of interesting things that Marvel is producing.
One of the many projects he talked about was Agatha All Along, and he teased what fans can expect from it, describing it as “really scary.”
Winderbaum explained: "Agatha is really fun but it's really scary and it gets quite dramatic. She's an amazing anti-hero and that show is...it lures you in with the fun of Halloween, and before you know it, you're crying."
Asked exactly how scary the show gets, he said: "It's a Marvel brand of scary. It's a Halloween show. There are deadly stakes in the series. It's a fun ride but it's a dangerous one."
The series stars Kathryn Hahn, who repises her role as the titular witch, Agatha Harkness. In the series Agatha is joined by “a disparate, mixed bag of witches” and those witches include Patti LuPone’s Lilia, Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer, Debra Jo Rupp’s Sharon, and Ali Ahn’s Alice.
Agatha is described as a “dark comedy.” When we last saw Agatha, she attempted to take Wanda Maximoff’s magic for herself, and Wanda trapped her in the “Agnes” persona.
The description for the first episode of the show reads, “In the first episode we see Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in.”
Hahn previously talked about returning to play this character, saying: "I wish I could tell you anything. I can tell you that it's pretty fan- fabulous, I'm going to say that, I was going to say fantastic, but then I decided to go with fabulous."
She added: "It's an amazing cast. I’m in awe of everyone’s work in this show and I think people are going to be surprised. I don't - I think they're gonna think it's one way and, of course, it's gonna go a million different avenues kinda like WandaVision."
The series also stars Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal, and Sasheer Zamata is playing Jennifer Kale. Joe Locke also appears in the show but is only listed as “Teen”.
The series is set to premiere on Disney+ this September. Marvel will most likely show off some footage of the series at Comic-Con later this month.
