Marvel's MOON KNIGHT Director Says There's No Talk of Bringing The Character Back But "There Could Be a Film"
Marvel’s Moon Knight was an interesting big swing for the studio and it received a mixed reaction from fans. There were aspects of the series I liked, but I thought it ultimately dropped the ball on the story.
Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab recently offered some insight into what is going on with the Moon Knight character, and as of right now… nothing is going on.
The director says that there have been no talks over the Marvel character's future, but, he also doesn't think we have seen the last of him yet.
During an interview with Deadline, Diab said: "You never know – with Marvel nothing is called finished. There could be a film, or he could go into another universe.”
"Right now nothing is in talks but definitely with Moon Knight, I would love to be involved in anything else and it could happen for sure. I have a great relationship with them."
Now, I should point out that Marvel is developing a Midnight Suns project and Michael Giacchino, the director behind Marvel’s horror special Werewolf by Night, is said to be up for the directing gig.
Moon Knight would definitely be a part of that. Midnight Suns is Marvel's response to things that go bump in the night. They are supernatural superheroes who tackle supernatural threats.
The team's roster has varied over the years but has included characters from the darker corners of the Marvel Universe. With characters like Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, and the recent addition of Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing, and the upcoming introduction of Blade to the MCU, the foundation for this supernatural squad has been laid.
So, if this is a project that Marvel moves forward with, we’ll definitely see Moon Knight back in action. When previously asked about what MCU project he personally would like to see Moon Knight show up in one day, Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac said:
“I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Suns. There are just such interesting characters in there.
“Now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc, Steven, and Jake — less so — are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as a part of a team and what that dynamic would be.
“I think that’d be exciting. For me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility.”
If there are talks at Marvel about bringing Moon Knight back in some way, director Mohamed Diab obviously isn’t involved.
