WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Director Has "Crazy and Nuts" Ideas for a Sequel If Marvel Lets Him Do It
Werewolf By Night director Michael Giacchino has some ideas for a follow-up movie that he’d like to explore one day. He describes these ideas as being “crazy and nuts” and all he needs is a green light from Marvel to make it happen.
During an interview with Collider, Giacchino says there’s been “talk” of doing a follow-up to Werewolf by Night, but as of right now, nothing is planned. He said:
“There’s always talk. But, you know, until somebody decides to spend a penny, nothing happens yet. So, hopefully. My wish is that, yes, there will be more with these characters. I would love to, and I have ideas of what I would love to do with them, and it’s all crazy and nuts, but I think that’s the only way to go about it. So, hopefully, one day. Hopefully, one day.”
Werewolf By Night was such a great Marvel project! It’s one of the best and most enjoyable things that Marvel has released in recent years, and the fact that they didn’t jump on a follow-up project right after it was released is surprising. It’s even more of a surprise to learn that they still aren’t moving forward with anything!
There was a time when I never thought Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige would start dropping the ball, but that’s exactly what’s happening right now and it disappoints me.
There were reports last year that two other Halloween specials were being developed by Marvel, but judging from Giacchino’s comments here, that’s not actually the case.
There are a lot of monster characters to play with in the Marvel Universe! On top of the characters introduced in Werewolf By Night, there The Living Mummy, Simon Garth: Zombie, Dracula, Manphibian, and Hell Cow.
Hopefully, one day Giacchino gets to make another Marvel monster movie, but it’s obviously not going to happen anytime soon.
