Marvel's WANDAVISION May Feature an Action Scene Involving a Coven of Witches
Some new stunt casting was recently shared for WandaVision and it reveals plans for a possible action sequence that involves a coven of witches.
According to iStunt, stunt double Nicole Reddinger has joined WandaVision as a "Witch Coven Member." Some set photos from the series that leaked last year, which have since been removed, teased this coven of witches that might be led by Karthryn Hahn's character Agatha Harkness, who was previously described by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige as a "nosy neighbour" in the series.
It’s speculated that these witches will be manipulating Wanda Maximoff on behalf of an unseen villain, which could be the villain Nightmare, who is a villain that could also tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness because this series will lead into that film.
Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprised their roles in the series, which has been described as “a mash-up between American sitcoms throughout the decades and Marvel films with these characters.” It’s also been explained that the story “snowballs into an epic Marvel movie that you’ve grown to know or love.”
The series is also said to start Wanda Maximoff down the path of actually becoming Scarlet Witch and the story it tells will have repercussions for the entire future of the MCU in Phase 4.
The series will also feature the Sentient World Observation and Response Department, better known as S.W.O.R.D. which is a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D. that deals with alien threats that jeopardize world security. As of right now, it’s still unclear how it will be utilized in the story or what characters will be utilized. But, that means there will be scenes that are set outside of the fantasy world, that Wanda has found herself in.
The series also stars Kat Dennings reprising her role as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park returning as FBI Agent Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp. It will also feature MCU newcomer Teyonah Parris as the grown-up version of Monica Rambeau, a character who first made her appearance in last year’s Captain Marvel.
The series is being developed by Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel) who is serving as the series’ producer, showrunner and head writer. Matt Shakman is directing the series.
There’s no doubt that we are going to see a lot of unexpected things in this series. It’s going to be filled with wonderfully weird elements and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
