MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Promo Art and Character Bios Offer Up New Story Details

New promo art and action figure packaging tied to Masters of the Universe are giving fans an early look at how this live-action reboot is shaping up, and it’s packing in some fun story details along the way.

Between fresh character designs and surprisingly revealing bios, this merch rollout is doing more than just selling toys. It’s quietly setting the stage for what looks like a very classic Eternia adventure with a few emotional wrinkles baked in.

The first trailer already got longtime fans on board, and earlier this week the first wave of merchandise surfaced online. Now newly revealed promo art zooms in on Prince Adam in full He-Man mode, along with a closer look at Man-At-Arms, played by Idris Elba.

The designs feel familiar but have been updated, and they lean into the heroic fantasy vibe without ditching the roots of the 1980s animated series.

As for the character bios, they hint at the emotional arcs driving the story. He-Man’s description sticks close to the mythos fans know and love.

"After uncovering the Power Sword, Prince Adam transforms into He-Man, the Most Powerful Man in the Universe!" reads the description for He-Man's action figure. "The Champion of Grayskull returns to Eternia to free his people from the evil clutches of Skeletor."

Man-At-Arms, however, seems to be carrying a heavier burden this time around. His bio suggests a fallen hero trying to earn his way back after Eternia’s collapse.

"Just as Eternos fell, so too fell the Commander of the King's Royal Guard. With the return of He-Man, however, Duncan fights to save Eternia from Skeletor. Alongside the Masters of the Universe, the King's Man-At-Arms will find the redemption he seeks."

On the villain side of things, Tri-Klops is positioned as more than just muscle. The packaging frames him as a key player in Skeletor’s larger plan.

"The brawny brute with three cybernetic eyes serves as the right-hand man of Skeletor. Together with Evil-lyn, Tri-Klops puts his plan into motion to recover the Sword of Power for his evil master,"

Directed by Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe brings the franchise back to theaters as a full-scale fantasy epic. After being separated from Eternia for 15 years, Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, is drawn back home by the Sword of Power, only to find the planet under the brutal control of Skeletor, portrayed by Jared Leto.

To take back his world, Adam teams up with Teela, played by Camila Mendes, and Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms, as he finally embraces his destiny as He-Man. The cast is stacked with genre favorites, including Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, Kristen Wiig, and Elba.

The screenplay comes from Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham, blending classic fantasy with modern blockbuster energy. If the promo art and character bios are any indication, this version of Masters of the Universe isn’t reinventing the wheel. It’s polishing it, adding some emotional weight, and letting Eternia feel epic again.

Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5 later this year. You can check out the new looks at He-Man, Man-At-Arms, and Tri-Klops now through the latest Instagram galleries below.
