Matt Reeves Starts Revealing THE BATAMAN: PART II Cast One Character at a Time

Fans have been waiting a long time for officiall updates on The Batman: Part II, and now Matt Reeves is finally tossing out some fresh details.

He’s doing it in a pretty interesting way too. Instead of dropping one giant cast announcement, Reeves has started rolling out returning characters on social media piece by piece, building anticipation one Gotham citizen at a time.

Late last week, Reeves shared a snowy tease for the upcoming sequel, which immediately got fans talking again about his dark and gritty Gotham universe. Now the filmmaker has shifted gears and started confirming cast members through a series of posts on X.

The first reveal was pretty obvious, but still fun. Reeves posted a GIF of Robert Pattinson, confirming that yes, Batman will indeed be back in The Batman Part II. Nobody doubted that for a second, but fans were happy to see the official acknowledgment.

About an hour later, Reeves followed that up with a post featuring Jeffrey Wright, confirming the return of Lieutenant Jim Gordon. Gordon became one of the best parts of the first movie thanks to Wright’s chemistry with Pattinson, his return was expected, but seeing him back in Gotham is great news.

Not long after that came another familiar face. Andy Serkis is returning as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne’s loyal confidant and reluctant father figure. Alfred barely survived the events of the first film after taking a brutal hit from the Riddler’s bombing campaign, but it looks like he’ll once again be helping Bruce navigate the chaos ahead.

Then Reeves brought out a fan favorite. Colin Farrell is officially back as Oz Cobb after stealing the spotlight in HBO’s The Penguin. Farrell completely disappeared into the role in the first movie, and the success of The Penguin series only made audiences more excited to see where Oz goes next in Reeves’ growing crime saga.

After that, Reeves started digging deeper into Gotham’s supporting cast. Jamie Lawson will return as Gotham Mayor Bella Real, while Gil Perez-Abraham is also coming back as Gotham City Police Officer Martinez. Reeves clearly wants fans to know this sequel is continuing to build out every corner of his Gotham world, not just the major players.

That wrapped up Wednesday’s reveals, but Reeves teased there’s more on the way today, May 14. Naturally, that has fans wondering if some long-rumored additions are finally about to become official.

One name getting a lot of attention is Sebastian Stan, who recently confirmed reports that he’ll appear in the film. Many fans believe he’ll be playing Harvey Dent, which could finally pave the way for this universe’s version of Two-Face.

Other names floating around include Scarlett Johansson, Barry Keoghan, and Charles Dance, so magbe confirmation of those actors are coming soon.

The road to this sequel has been a long one already. Originally set for release in October 2025, the film was later delayed to 2026 before ultimately landing on its current release date of October 1, 2027. Production is expected to begin later this year.

Even with the delays, anticipation for Reeves’ next Gotham story hasn’t faded. Now, this slow trickle of updates is making the wait even more exciting. Fans are more than ready to head back into this snow covered, crime-ridden version of Gotham City.
