Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN Will Reportedly Focus on Bruce Wayne's Second Year as the "Dark Knight Detective"

Fans have finally gotten to take a look at Robert Pattinson in cape and cowl as the Dark Knight in director Matt Reeves’s upcoming film The Batman. And with the release of the screen test footage, we are also given another tiny morsel of information about the film, which has been kept tightly under wraps since it was first announced.

A report from The Wrap claims, “According to insiders with knowledge of the project, Reeves’ film will explore Bruce Wayne’s second year as the Dark Knight detective.” Reeves previously described the story as a “defining” and “very personal” story about the Dark Knight, giving us a new spin on the detective angle of the superhero, rather than another origin story.

This makes sense, and lines up with the more homemade look of the costume, keeping things early on in the career without starting from the beginning.

The film also stars Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis is set to play Alfred, John Turturro has been cast in the role of Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard will play new character, District Attorney Gil Colson, Colin Farrell will play Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, and Jayme Lawson will play a character named Bella Real.

The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
