Matt Smith Joined STAR WARS: EPISODE IX in a Key Role

Another fan-favorite actor has joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode IX. According to Variety, Doctor Who and The Crown actor Matt Smith will have a key role in the story. We don't know what exactly he'll be doing in a galaxy far, far away or if he'll be on the side of the resistance or the first order. He seems like he would be a First Order kinda guy, though. He's got those evil empire facial features!

Smith joins the previously cast Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Billie LourdRichard E. GrantNaomi AckieMark Hamill, Anthony DanielsBilly Dee Williams, and Carrie Fisher. Dominic Monaghan was also recently cast in the series.

I wish we had more details to share, but that's all we've got! I'm just excited that Smith has been cast in the film and I'm looking forward to seeing who he'll be playing. What are your thoughts on the casting of Matt Smith? What side of the war do you think he will fall on?

The movie is shooting at London’s Pinewood Studios and it's scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
