Matt Smith Says That He's Not in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX as Far as He Knows

About six months ago it was reported that Doctor Who actor Matt Smith was cast in J.J. AbramsStar Wars: Episode IX in a key role. Well, Smith is now saying that he’s not in the movie!

During a recent interview with LA Times, Smith denied his involvement with the film saying, “As far as I can tell, I’m definitely not [in it].”

So, that’s a little weird. Now, Smith could just be messing around and joking, or he’s straight up lying. It wouldn’t be the first time an actor lied about something. I guess it’s up to you to decided if you believe him or not. But the truth will be revealed with the movie is released!

The movie already has a pretty incredible cast that includes Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Billie LourdRichard E. GrantNaomi AckieMark Hamill, Anthony DanielsBilly Dee WilliamsCarrie Fisher and Dominic Monaghan.

Smith was recently cast in Sony’s adaptation of Marvel’s Morbius The Living Vampire and he’s totally fine with talking about that. While he doesn’t reveal who he’s playing, he does share what Karen Gillan told him about how she feels about being a part of the Marvel universe:

“I can’t tell you her exact advice to me — I’d have to kill you. But she told me that she really likes it, making those movies. That was enough for me.

“And that’s been my experience so far. I really like the director, Daniel Espinosa, on [‘Morbius’]. I’ve kind of waited [comic book movies] out a bit. I nearly did one last year and then I didn’t. This one felt right because of him.”

Star Wars: Episode IX will hit theaters on December 20th, 2019 and Morbius will be released in 2020.
