Mckenna Grace Confirms Her Return To GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE Sequel
Mckenna Grace has officially confirmed that she will reprise her role as Phoebe in Sony Pictures’ upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel, Firehouse. I kind of assumed she would be returning with some of the other members of the cast, but it’s always good to have confirmation.
During a recent interview with CB, Grace shared her excitement for the sequel and how she is trying to get information from director Jason Reitman about where the sequel’s story is headed. She said:
“I’m constantly pressuring Jason Reitman, our director. I’m always trying to figure out what the story is. I literally have no ounce of a clue what the story is. If I knew about a Marvel film or if I knew about Ghostbusters, I’d be sitting here and I’d be like, ‘I have no clue, and it’s driving me nuts.’ I’m just excited to do a second one. I’m just excited to be Phoebe.”
The film has been previously described as “the next chapter in the Spengler family story,” and it will once again be directed by Jason Reitman from a screenplay he is co-writing with Gil Kenan.
The movie will officially be heading back to New York City and it’s also expected to take place in the Firehouse headquarters that has been featured in the first two Ghostbusters films. Reitman also previously revealed a bit of additional information about the sequel and the future of the franchise, saying that Ernie Hudson’s Winston Zeddemore is going to play a big role in the franchise from here on out. He said:
“The character of Winston Zeddemore and Zeddemore Industries figures strongly into the future of Ghostbusters.”
As for the involvement of the other original Ghostbusters characters, that is yet to be seen. The film is currently slated to arrive in theaters on December 20th, 2023.
