Kevin Feige Reportedly Fought to Introduce Miles Morales in SPIDER-MAN BRAND NEW DAY, but Was Told No by Sony

Judging by the cast list and the awesome first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, this next chapter in the MCU’s Spider-Man universe is shaping up to be as good as, if not better than, the films that have come before it.

Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo are reprising their respective MCU roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Frank Castle/Punisher, and Bruce Banner/Hulk, while Michael Mando returns as the villainous Scorpion for the first time since Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The movie will also introduce several new villains, with Boomerang and Tarantula glimpsed in the trailer. The Hand, a recurring Daredevil villain, will also appear, as will Marvin Jones III as the crime boss Tombstone.

Peter Parker’s former (and hopefully future) friends, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are back as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson and Ned Leeds, respectively, while Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn have been rumored to make their MCU debuts in Brand New Day. Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colón-Zayas have also joined the cast in undisclosed roles.

But one character that had been considered for a live-action debut is seemingly missing from the story, much to MCU boss Kevin Feige’s dismay. In a newly released rumor from The Geeky Cast in a post on X, “Apparently Feige was pushing hard for Miles [Morales] and Sony said ‘nah.'”

It’s a real bummer that Miles Morales is being held hostage at Sony. The animated movies they’ve made around the character have been fantastic, but fans are eager to see him in live-action, and this would be such a cool movie for him to cross over into.

But there are a lot of moving parts in this story, and maybe they will lead to his eventual introduction. As always, we will just have to wait and see.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
