SUPERMAN: LEGACY VFX Crew Member Says the Script Is Great and the Crew Has All Worked With James Gunn Before
A member of the VFX crew for the highly anticipated James Gunn-directed DC feature Superman: Legacy is singing the film’s praises already. A previous crew member of Gunn’s, Stephane Ceretti, is not only an Oscar-nominated Visual Effects artist, but one that has worked on DC, in Batman & Robin and Batman Begins, as well as Marvel, across Thor, Captain America, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange franchises, not to mention Avengers: Endgame and Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. The guy has done it all, and he’s got great things to say about the next installment in the Superman franchise.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, Ceretti gave up what little he could about the movie, saying:
"I can't tell you much about Superman. I really cannot. But all I can tell you is it's going to be good. It's a great script. We're trying hard…We're a good group. It's all a good group of people. A lot of people that have worked with James before that he trusts. We're a very good group in terms of being very honest to each other. So we work well in that sense."
What we know about the movie so far is mostly casting news. David Corenswet will star in the film as Clark Kent/Superman; Rachel Brosnahan will play his love interest Lois Lane; Nathan Fillion is cast as Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi is Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan will take on the role of a superhero named Metamorpho, whose alter ego is the archaeologist Rex Mason.
Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s expected to begin filming in early 2024, just on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
