Meryl Streep Confirms "Miranda Will Return" to THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2
Meryl Streep has delighted fans of The Devil Wears Prada this week, as she posted a picture of her chic villain character, Miranda Priestly, to her Instagram, and simply said, “Miranda will return ❤️”.
It was announced earlier this week that a sequel is officially in the works, and Streep is the first cast member to publicly announce her return, though her co-stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are in negotiations, and are expected to return.
The first film’s screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is also in talks to return to write the next chapter. The original film's director, David Frankel, is also set to helm the sequel. While the first film was adapted from Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel, it remains unclear if Weisberger will have any involvement in the new project.
We don’t have confirmation of the film’s synopsis, but rumors have swirled for a long time stating that while the first movie centered on Andrea (Hathaway) and Emily (Blunt) navigating the demanding world of Miranda Priestly (Streep), the sequel will reportedly spotlight Priestly's efforts to save her career amid the challenges facing the print magazine industry.
Emily, now a high-ranking executive at an advertising group, is poised to be Priestly's formidable adversary.
Whatever the story, I am looking forward to watching it unfold. Stay tuned for updates.
