Michael Rooker is in Talks To Play King Shark in James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD
Guardians of the Galaxy franchise actor Michael Rooker is looking to reunite with director James Gunn for DC’s The Suicide Squad. According to The Wrap, the actor is in talks to play King Shark in the movie!
I always imagined Dave Bautista in the role of King Shark, but you know what? Rooker would probably be even more awesome in the role! It’s really easy to imagine him as King Shark and it’d be great to actually see him bring the character to life.
King Shark is as intelligent as a human. He can talk normally and can also read. He also has a very keen sense of humor and one of his greatest fears is being vegetarian. In the comics, King Shark acted as a serial killer for years in Hawaii. He became Aquaman’s sidekick at one point and he has been a member of the Secret Six, the Secret Society of Super-Villains and, obviously, the Suicide Squad.
The actor joins the previously cast Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney, as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Idris Elba, who was initially taking on the role of Deadshot before a script change saw it evolve to a new, undisclosed role. David Dastmalchian will take on the role of Polka-Dot Man, Daniela Melchior will play Ratcatcher, and John Cena is also said to be in talks for a role.
While we don’t have any concrete story details, it is said that the current draft of the script could “follow the team on a mission to the Middle East to stop Onslaught and infiltrate their headquarters in Qurac. This seems like a fitting type of story for the ‘Suicide Squad’ that will keep the stakes lower compared to the first film.”
The Suicide Squad release date is currently set for August 6th, 2021.
