Microsoft and Ubisoft Looking at Creating Digital Events in Lieu of E3 Cancellations
It was recently announced that E3 2020 has been canceled. This is a big bummer for many fans of gaming like me who look forward to a single event in the year where a bunch of gaming news gets dumped on us. I know I was expecting more news on the Xbox Series X that’s releasing this Holiday season. Luckily, it appears that many companies are going to be creating their own digital events to compensate. Nintendo already does their Nintendo Directs, and so I imagine they’ll still have a big one like they would for E3, just released on its own; Sony has said they were skipping E3 in favor of their State of Play broadcasts I imagine.
It looks like Microsoft has decided to follow suit as Phil Spencer sent out a tweet stating that they’re planning a digital event for Xbox. We don’t know any other information at this point, but it’s sure to be awesome.
In addition, Ubisoft has also released a statement stating that they’re also looking for a digital way to show off their new games and any other news they have to offer.
While I’m glad that it appears we won’t lose out on all the big news, it is a bummer that we’ll probably have even more dates to juggle in order to keep up. Do you prefer the old approach or the new one?
