Mike Flanagan’s Adaptation of Stephen King's CARRIE Might Be Getting More Than One Season
It looks like Carrie might be sticking around longer than expected. A new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Carrie adaptation was shared on social media, and it’s stirring up some speculation about what the Doctor Sleep and Haunting of Hill House creator has planned.
The image, shared by Michael Trucco on Instagram on October 30, shows the cast gathered together with a caption describing the show as “something very special... and damn entertaining!”
But it’s not just the cast photo that’s got people talking, it’s the fine print. The photo’s border clearly reads “Carrie Season 1.”
That little detail has fans wondering if Flanagan’s Carrie series already being planned as a multi-season story?
At just over 300 pages, Stephen King’s 1974 novel isn’t exactly sprawling source material, but if anyone can stretch and expand a story’s universe, it’s Flanagan. He’s done it before with The Haunting of Hill House and The Fall of the House of Usher. Both took loose inspiration from classic works and turned them into rich, layered television experiences.
Trucco went on to share his gratitude for being part of the project, writing, “A very special thank you to [Mike Flanagan] for steering the ship and dreaming this all up. You’re an incredible artist, Mike, and I’m lucky to be in your orbit.”
The series is being described as a “bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White.” The show will dive deep into the isolation and abuse that push Carrie to discover her telekinetic powers, leading to the horrific and iconic prom-night climax.
Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan taking on the role of her fanatically religious mother, Margaret. The cast also includes Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Katee Sackhoff, Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Joel Oulette, and Matthew Lillard.
It’s a stacked lineup of both Flanagan regulars and new collaborators, something fans of his interconnected horror universe will appreciate.
Filming wrapped in late October, with Flanagan himself posting on October 25, “Our last day of filming CARRIE. This has been one of the best experiences of my career, one of the very best ensembles I’ve ever worked with, and already one of my favorite projects ever. Cannot wait for you guys to see what we made.”
Expect Carrie to premiere on Prime Video in 2026, and don’t be surprised if “Season 1” ends up being just the beginning.
