Mike Myers Confirms AUSTIN POWERS 4 Is Happening
For years, fans have wondered if Mike Myers would ever slip back into the velvet suits, flash that signature grin, and return as the International Man of Mystery. Now, it sounds like we finally have the answer.
During an appearance on Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party, Myers was asked by a fan if there would be an Austin Powers 4. His response was short, sweet, and exactly what longtime fans have been waiting to hear:
“Yes.”
That was it. No details, no timeline, and no hints about where the story might go. But after more than two decades since the last film hit theaters, that simple confirmation is enough to get fans excited.
The possibility of a fourth Austin Powers movie has been floating around for years. Myers has previously expressed interest in returning to the franchise, though he’s often stopped short of confirming whether another installment would actually happen.
One idea he has discussed in the past is giving Dr. Evil a much larger role in the story, which would certainly make sense considering fans love the villain. The idea was to tell the story from his point of view.
Of course, a sequel would need the right idea to justify bringing the series back. That’s something franchise director Jay Roach touched on during a previously interview, explaining:
“I wouldn’t say ‘never’ never, but it does depend on Mike having something that he’s inspired about and after all these years it hasn’t quite clicked yet. But I’m always game for anything he wants to do. He’s a genius and he helped me get started and it was a blast.”
If Myers has finally found the spark that Roach was referring to, then fans could soon see one of comedy’s most iconic franchises make its long-awaited return.
The Austin Powers series became a massive success for New Line Cinema, earning well over half a billion dollars worldwide while cementing itself as a pop culture phenomenon. From endlessly quotable catchphrases to unforgettable characters like Dr. Evil, Mini-Me, and Fat Bastard, the films left a lasting mark on comedy.
The most recent installment, Austin Powers in Goldmember, arrived back in 2002, meaning more than 20 years have passed since audiences last saw Austin on the big screen. Despite the long gap, the franchise has remained surprisingly relevant thanks to constant references, parodies, and tributes across movies, television, and advertising.
Most recently, Myers reunited with co-stars Seth Green, Mindy Sterling, and Rob Lowe for Verizon’s new Austin Powers-themed commercial, reminding audiences just how much affection there still is for these characters.
Now that Myers has finally answered the question with a definitive “yes,” the next mystery is figuring out when Austin Powers 4 will actually get moving and what kind of outrageous adventure awaits Austin and Dr. Evil.
One thing is certain: fans have been waiting a very long time to hear those magic words. Yeah, baby, yeah.
