Miles Teller Says The FANTASTIC FOUR Will Wear Their Classic Costumes
We've seen the first teaser, we've heard from the producer and director, and we've seen some photos, but Josh Trank's Fantastic Four is still one of this year's potential blockbusters that we know the least about. One of the things that a lot of fans have been wondering about is the costumes, which - from what we've seen so far - are leaning toward a more functional design than the classic look from the comics, dubbed "containment suits." But though that may be the case, one of the film's stars says we can expect to see the team suit up with the classic familiar costumes before the film is over.
Screencrush caught up with Whiplash star Miles Teller (who plays Reed Richard/Mr. Fantastic) recently, and Teller had this to say:
These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great [...] But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn't don the traditional costumes. You've got to. There is some servicing there. You've got to give that to the fans. That's what it's all about.
I'm sure those fans who were hoping for a more traditional take on the material will at least be happy that they'll be able to see the characters rock the classic blue suits, but I think for many people the verdict is still out when it comes to Trank's reboot. I now find myself in the weird place of looking forward to this movie more than a lot of hardcore FF fans, even though I was only lukewarm about Trank's previous film, Chronicle. Still, I think he's a director with loads of promise, and I'm excited to see what he does with this film when it hits theaters on August 7th.
And the Fantastic Four aren't the only ones who will be sporting a familiar look: just this morning, we wrote about how we'll see Matt Murdock suit up in the traditional red Daredevil suit by the time the Netflix series comes to the end of its first season.
