Millie Bobby Brown Says STRANGER THINGS is Preventing Her "From Creating Stories" That She's "Passionate About"

Millie Bobby Brown is so ready for Stranger Things to finally come to an end. The series that launched her career has become something of a chore to her and she’s ready to “get out of here” so that she can start developing projects of her own that she’s passionate about. Sure! I get it! She’s really to take her career to the next level, and with all the time that Stranger Things takes, it makes sense that she’s ready to move on. During a recent interview with Glamour, Brown explained that she’s ready to say goodbye to the show:

“When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here’ Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”

She acknowledges that the show has given her “the tools and the resources to be a better actor.” But she is not sad that it’s coming to an end, explaining: “No one is dying. When it ends, I’m going to be able to still see these people.”

Stranger Things is coming to an end with Season 5 and while some of the actors are looking forward to the show coming to an end, like Brown and David Harbour, some actors, like Joe Keery, are having mixed feelings. During a previous interview, Keery said that it feels like it's time for the show to end, but he also said that it’s not going to be easy to say goodbye:

"It does feel like it's time. It won't be easy for it to end. I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show.

"So it's very convoluted. There's a sense of relief, there's a sense of sadness. I guess my goal is to just really soak it up as much as I can while we're doing it, and not take any of it for granted because it's been an amazing ride with such great people. And then once it's done, move forward and try to just hold on to the joy that we had when we were making it….Everything has a beginning and the middle and an end. It'll be nice to have the end of this too."

The show's fifth and final season was originally set to begin filming earlier this summer prior to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delaying principal photography indefinitely. There’s no word on when we will see Season 5 released.

When talking about the final season, co-creator Ross Duffer shared that this final chapter of the story is going to be an emotional arc for Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and that it will tie the entire series together. Ross Duffer explained:

"Will really takes center stage again in [season] 5. This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected. So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality – it’s Will coming into his own as a young man."

When previously describing Stranger Things 5, the writing team described the next chapter of the story “is like if Season 1 and 4 had a baby. And then that baby was injected with steroids."

While we don’t know much about what the story will entail, we do know the final episodes "circle back to Season 1." Matt Duffer previously said: "We're starting to see his coming of age, really, which has been challenging for a number of reasons; some of which are supernatural. But you're starting to see him come into his own.”

Ross Duffer added: "I think you'll see that with a couple of the character arcs, not just with Will. But also with Steve and Nancy, and her relationship with Jonathan, where things are not fully resolved. The characters have maybe made steps, like in the case of Will, but that journey isn't over yet. All of that is going to play a huge role as we try to wrap this thing up next season."

Noah Schnapp also said: "I can just tell you that I'm very very excited for what's to come. I think they did a great job with Will's character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect -- the story started with Will, and it'll end with Will."

The show is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s, and follows a group of friends as they investigate supernatural occurrences and government conspiracies as it plunges the small midwestern town into an apocalyptic nightmare. The series has been praised for its strong cast, twisted storylines, and nostalgic references to 1980s pop culture, which Hamilton fits right into.
