THE INCREDIBLES 3 First Look Reveals Pixar’s Avengers-Style Superhero Team and New Story Details
Pixar is coming off the $1 billion success of Toy Story 5, and the studio is already preparing the return of another one of its biggest franchises.
The Parr family is suiting up again for The Incredibles 3, and Disney has now revealed the first concept art along with some interesting new story details.
During the D23 Disney Entertainment Presentation, we got an early glimpse at what Pixar has planned for the superhero sequel, including the introduction of a corporate superhero organization that sounds like The Incredibles universe’s answer to the Avengers or Justice League.
The newly revealed concept art shows Mr. Incredible back in action and apparently wearing a version of his original superhero costume.
He’s holding a massive orb above his head while protecting a group of civilians below, as cameras flash around him.
That public attention is important because The Incredibles 2 ended with superheroes becoming legal again.
Bob, Helen, Violet, Dash, Jack-Jack, and the rest of the world’s supers no longer have to operate from the shadows.
Of course, legal superheroes also open the door to a whole new set of problems, especially since having powers doesn’t automatically make someone a hero.
That’s where the SHL comes in. The SHL stands for the Superhero League, an organization featuring its own team of corporate superheroes.
It sounds like Pixar is playing with the idea of a polished, organized super-team similar to Marvel’s Avengers or DC’s Justice League, only filtered through the wonderfully strange world of The Incredibles.
That could create a fun conflict for the Parr family. The franchise has always been interested in what superheroes look like when they’re treated as celebrities, employees, liabilities, and public property.
Throwing a corporate superhero machine into that mix feels like a natural extension of those ideas.
Disney also confirmed that The Incredibles 3 remains on track for a 2028 theatrical release, but another detail from the presentation was particularly interesting. The movie was described as rounding out the trilogy.
If Pixar is intentionally framing this as a trilogy, there’s a good chance The Incredibles 3 is being developed as the conclusion to the Parr family’s main movie storyline.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the franchise has to end. Spinoffs, an animated series, or other movies set in this superhero universe could easily keep things going.
If The Incredibles 3 becomes another massive Pixar hit, Disney will almost certainly consider where these characters could go next.
The third movie also appears ready to shift more of the action toward the younger members of the Parr family.
Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack are expected to have bigger roles this time, although Jack-Jack is apparently still the ridiculously adorable superpowered baby we remember.
Giving the kids more responsibility could be exactly what the franchise needs for its third chapter.
Violet and Dash have grown as heroes over the previous movies, and they are sneaking out at night to do superhero stuff, while Jack-Jack remains a walking collection of unpredictable superpowers capable of causing absolute chaos.
The Incredibles 3 hits theaters in 2028. This could be a lot of fun!
