MOBLAND Renewed for Season 3 With Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan Returning
Paramount+ is keeping the Harrigan crime family in business. The streamer has officially renewed MobLand for Season 3 ahead of the show’s Season 2 premiere on September 18, withTom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan all confirmed to return.
Hardy will once again play Harry Da Souza, the fiercely loyal fixer caught up in the Harrigan family’s increasingly dangerous criminal world. Brosnan and Mirren will also be back as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, the husband-and-wife duo at the center of the family empire.
The renewal isn't much of a surprise from a numbers standpoint. MobLand scored Paramount+’s second-biggest launch for an original series, trailing only Landman, and a writers room for a potential third season was already operating by May.
What made Season 3 less certain was Hardy’s future with the series. Hardy, who also serves as an executive producer, reportedly ran into serious friction with writer, executive producer, and showrunner Jez Butterworth during production on Season 2.
Things reached a point where the two reportedly could no longer work together, putting Hardy’s continued involvement in question.
That situation was eventually resolved after Hardy, Butterworth, and executive producer David C. Glasser met in London and worked through their issues.
Executive producer Guy Ritchie was also involved in the effort to get everyone back on the same page. With Hardy officially returning, Paramount+ was able to move forward with Season 3.
Before we get there, the Harrigans have plenty of trouble waiting for them in Season 2. Their criminal empire is beginning to fracture as new rivals move in and the family struggles to maintain a united front.
Harry finds himself walking an increasingly dangerous tightrope as internal tensions grow, violence spreads, loyalties collapse, and the fight for control gets nastier.
Joining Hardy, Brosnan, and Mirren for Season 2 are Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer, and Toby Jones.
Season 2 of MobLand premieres September 18 on Paramount+. The ten-episode season will release new episodes every Friday, with the finale arriving November 20.
